Wolf Banner

This is not a journal of days, but a thread through time. Here you will find reflections, memories, and signs—left like markers on a path that winds backward and forward at once. Each entry is a whisper from the stones, a flicker in the veil, a step closer to what we have forgotten but never truly lost. Read slowly. Something ancient may be listening.

Joy at the Door - The One Without Ego

July 6, 2025

Ego—the entity driving humanity toward extinction. I’ve often wondered how it came into being. There’s a joke I once heard: Lock two beings in a room for eight hours. One is a woman. The other, a dog. When you open the door, which one will greet you with joy—kissing, wagging, overflowing with love, not anger? That one... has no ego. Why do we?

The Need to Stand Out

There is an innate need in humanity to 'stand out' and I believe it has been one of the basic motors of development for our civilization. However, due to media, perhaps, to "Hollywood" and its movies, to consumerism, it has reached such heights this need is overcomming morality, self respect honesty and I could name many more patterns of conduct our great grandparents held in high esteem.

Even here, what I am doing right now, is just another show of "Ego". I want you to know my opinions, to show how intelligent, or how wise and good I am.
From Laozi (Tao Te Ching, Chapter 9): "To be overbearing when successful is to bring about your own ruin. Withdraw once your work is done—this is the way of Heaven."

🌿 Tao Te Ching – Laozi, Chapter 24: "He who stands on tiptoe is not steady. He who shows himself is not luminous. He who justifies himself is not prominent. He who boasts of himself is not given credit. He who prides himself is not chief among men." — Laozi
